Hancock Pet Salon opens

November 14, 2009

HANCOCK - The Hancock Pet Salon at 136 S. Main St. held its grand opening Oct. 31.

The salon is owned by Pamela Brenner, who has been a professional groomer for more than 12 years.

Town Manager Dave Smith, Councilman Tim Smith and Councilman Sinclair Hamilton were among those attending the event.

A drawing for a free grooming, goodie bags for dogs and refreshments were available at the grand opening. Ruth Bass won the drawing for the free grooming for Honey, her golden retriever.

Several customers brought their dogs, including a few in costume. Princess, a grooming client of Brenner's since she was a puppy five years ago, came dressed as a love bug and did some tricks. Towser, Brenner's family dog and shop companion, was dressed as a pirate.

Susan Kemenyas, volunteer liaison for the Humane Society of Morgan County, said Brenner will be an asset because she is one of the few groomers in the area capable of handling big dogs and because she is willing to participate in things that enhance community life.
