Chambersburg falls in District 3 playoffs

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. -- Twelfth-seeded Chambersburg, competing in the PIAA District 3-AAAA playoffs for the first time since 1998, fell 35-14 Friday night in a first-round game against fifth-seeded Penn Manor.

Brian Reese scored on a 37-yard run and ConRoy Smith had a 3-yard touchdown run as Chambersburg (5-6) built a 14-0 lead in the first quarter.

It was all Penn Manor from there. Penn Manor (9-2) tied the game at 14-14 by halftime, took a 21-14 lead in the third quarter and added two more TDs in the fourth.

Jared Shearer and Laron Lee each scored two TDs to lead Penn Manor.


County trio earns all-state honors

North Hagerstown senior defender Jackie Keller has been named to the Maryland All-State first team.

North senior forward Katie Ritter is on the second team, while Boonsboro senior defender Alyssa Monninger is an honorable mention.


Alderson-Broaddus 3, Shepherd 2

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Shepherd (21-12) rallied to force a fifth game, but Alderson-Broaddus (22-15) held on for a 25-22, 21-25, 25-14, 21-25, 15-9 win in semifinal action of the WVIAC Tournament.



Shepherd's Frazier, Medina earn All-WVIAC honors

PRINCETON, W.Va. -- Shepherd junior midfielder Jeffers Frazier and junior defender David Medina both were named to the All-WVIAC second team.

Frazier, a first-team selection last year, started 15 games for the Rams this year, tallying two goals and three assists.

Medina, who started 14 games, had a key role on a Shepherd defense that recorded five shutouts. He also scored two goals.
