WAYNESBORO, Pa. -- The father of a Waynesboro Area Senior High School senior injured in a Nov. 6 crash has been charged with simple assault for allegedly hitting the man police say ran over the girl with his vehicle.
Waynesboro Police Chief Mark King said Philip Crawford has been charged with simple assault, reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Police allege he attacked Zoltan Mandy, a Waynesboro man who was driving the Subaru that hit Crawford's daughter, Shaylene, as she walked near 101 Myrtle Avenue after school dismissed.
A hospital spokeswoman said Thursday the girl was listed in good condition at Hershey (Pa.) Medical Center, where she was flown after the accident.
Waynesboro Area School District Superintendent James Robertson asked this week that people keep the girl in their thoughts.
"She's made progress. The injuries aren't life-threatening at this point, but still she's in for a long recovery," he said, saying she broke several bones.
