FREDERICK, Md. - Mrs. Janet Marie Lehman, 80, of Frederick, died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009, at Citizens Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Frederick.

She was the wife of James Lyle Lehman, who died Dec. 29, 2003.

Born July 29, 1929, in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Bertha Orem Smith.

Mrs. Lehman had been employed with Sagner Sewing Factory and in the cafeteria at the Maryland School for the Deaf.

She was a member of the Frederick Church of the Brethren, where she was in the home builders class. She enjoyed creating family scrapbooks and loved her pets.

Surviving is a son, Clinton L. Lehman, and wife Margel Mychele Lehman of Adamstown, Md.; a granddaughter, Emily Noelle Lehman of Adamstown; and a sister, Rose Brashears of Mount Pleasant. Several nieces and nephews, including Kathrine Duvall, Betty Jean Smith, Patty Whipp, Mary Wetzel, Wayne Holt and Adam Rice, also survive.


She was preceded in death by a son, Travis Lyle Lehman; five brothers, Charles, Albert, Paul, Bob and Sam Smith; and three sisters, Ruth Smith, Myrtle Rice and Eleanor Holt.

Mrs. Lehman is at the Robert E. Dailey Funeral Homes, P.A., 1201 N. Market St., Frederick, where the family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12.

On Friday, Nov. 13, Mrs. Lehman will be removed to the Frederick Church of the Brethren, 201 Fairview Ave., Frederick, where she will lie in state from 10 to 11 a.m., at which time services will begin, with her pastor the Rev. Sandi Evans Rogers officiating.

Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.

The family requests that memorials be made in memory of Mrs. Lehman to the Frederick County Animal Control, 1832 Rosemont Ave., Frederick MD 21702 or to the Maryland School for the Deaf, 101 Clarke Place, Frederick MD 21701.
