BOONSBORO - Mrs. Marguerite Ruth (Fleagle) Fager, 86, a resident of Fahrney Keedy Memorial Home, Boonsboro, Md., and formerly of 32 Mountain View Drive, Boonsboro, entered into eternal rest at 1:30 a.m., Monday, Nov. 9, 2009, at the nursing home.

Born Aug. 2, 1923, in Beseckers Gap, near Waynesboro, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Clarence W. and J. Marie (Utz) Fleagle.

Mrs. Fager attended Gap and Blue Rock Elementary schools and was a graduate of Quincy High School with the class of 1940.


She and her husband, the late Mr. Charles W. "Bill" Fager Jr., were married Dec. 13, 1941. He died Nov. 12, 1968. She entered the nursing home Aug. 20, 2008.

Mrs. Fager was employed as a secretary for the Washington County Maryland Board of Education working at Beaver Creek, Mount Lena, Greensburg, Chewsville, Leitersburg and Old Forge schools from 1959 until her retirement in 1988.

In her early life, Mrs. Fager was a member of Blue Rock United Brethren in Christ Church, Waynesboro. Following her marriage, she became a member of Blue Mountain Church of God, Smithsburg, Md., where she served as organist for 55 years, taught the Couples Sunday School Class for 36 years and was church secretary. She also was a member of the Washington County Teachers Association and National AARP.

She enjoyed entertaining, especially playing the piano and organ at hospitals, nursing homes, senior centers and social events.

Mrs. Fager is survived by two children, Charles W. "Bill" (Husband of Judy) Fager III of Ringgold, Md., and Karen (Mrs. Ronald) Miller of Smithsburg; six grandchildren, Marsha Rudolph, Scott Rudolph, Tara Fager-Morcock, Chandra Miller-Matthews, Craig W. Fager and Chad Miller; five great-grandchildren, Danielle Rudolph, Andrew Matthews, Sierra Miller, Katie Morcock and Alex Matthews; a sister, Mary A. Gallion of Chambersburg, Pa.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Connie Rudolph, who died April 18, 2006; and two brothers, John A. Fleagle and Wilbur J. Fleagle.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009, at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, with the Rev. Dr. Bruce Henneman and Pastor Mary Crampton officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
