MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Billie Newton Yurish, 81, of Martinsburg, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at City Hospital, surrounded by her family and loved ones.

Billie was born Sept. 8, 1928, in Berkeley County. She was the daughter of the late Alton Edwards and Margaret Wyndham Zepp.

She retired from Corning Glass Works after 23 years of service. After retirement, she worked at Charles Town Races & Slots.


She was a member of St. Joseph, St. Leo and St. Bernadette Catholic churches.

She had a great love for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, bingo and dogs. She was actively involved with volunteer work throughout her life.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Joseph V. Yurish; and a sister, Mary "Allene" Bartles.

She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Mary Jo Wiltshire, and husband, Jeffrey, of Gerrardstown; a son, Paul J. "PJ" Yurish, and his wife, June, of Martinsburg; four grandchildren, Dara Randolph and her husband, Bobby, of Gerrardstown, Joseph V. Yurish II and his wife, Kristen, of Martinsburg, Jeffrey O. Wiltshire of Gerrardstown, and Jessica Yurish and special friend, JD Ours, of Martinsburg.

She is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Addison, Chaim, Aniya, Aidric and Kilie; special family and friends, Aubrey Hutchison, Bobbie Bartles, Liz Wiltshire, Betty Wiltshire, Taylor Jo Bell, Morgan Ours and Austin Russ.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Martinsburg, with the Rev. Brian Shoda officiating.

Friends will be received Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Rosedale Funeral Home, Martinsburg.
