Long Meadows Rotary presents vocational awards

November 08, 2009

The Long Meadows Rotary Club recently presented vocational awards to Vincent Groh and Lata Milner.

Vincent Groh, a member of the Long Meadows Rotary Club, was honored for his many contributions to the Hagerstown community. Groh has been a generous donor to the United Way and many other nonprofit agencies. He donated a four-story building in downtown Hagerstown to the Washington County Board of Education to house the Barbara Ingram School for the Arts in memory of his wife. His charitable and entrepreneurial spirit exemplifies the heart of a Rotarian - "Service Above Self."

Milner and her husband, Martin, purchased the former Clarion Hotel in Hagerstown, which involved a substantial investment to renovate the deteriorating facility. In eight months, the couple has attracted new business to the Hagerstown area, and moved its hotel rating up from No. 226 to No. 18. Both Milners have also been generous donors to a number of local nonprofit agencies.
