ATHENS, W.Va. --Â Kasey Mercier led Shepherd with 13 kills and 12 digs as the Rams edged Concord (11-20, 3-11 WVIAC), 27-29, 25-16, 18-25, 25-19, 15-8.
Lauren Gardner had 13 kills and Emily McCoy added 11 kills for Shepherd (20-11, 12-2), while Amanda Hall had eight kills, Lauren Jeschelnik recorded 37 assists and Julie Robertson added 10 digs.
The Rams clinched the second seed and a first-round bye in the WVIAC Tournament, and will face the winner of Charleston (20-12, 9-5) and Seton Hill (11-14, 6-8) in the quarterfinals Thursday.

MERCERSBURG, Pa. --Â Paul Suhey led Mercersburg Academy to a season-ending victory over Kiski School (2-7).
Suhey completed 11 of 17 passes for 139 yards and two touchdowns, and he ran 13 times for 86 yards and another two scores.
David Erichsen had five receptions for 114 yards and caught both of Suhey's second-quarter TD passes, while Troy Harrison paced the Blue Storm (3-6) on the ground with 14 carries for 100 yards and a TD. John San Filipo capped the Mercersburg scoring with a 33-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown.

Chambersburg girls 14th at states
HERSHEY, Pa. -- The Chambersburg girls finished 14th out of 24 teams at the PIAA Class AAA state championships Saturday on the hilly 3.1-mile Hershey Parkview course.
For the Trojans, Alayna Merkle was 71st (20:27), Maeve Charlesworth was 82nd (20:36), McKenzie Doyle was 97th (20:43), Laurie Jones was 171st (21:16), Bekah Elbel was 213th (21:45), Haley Jones was 239th (22:09) and Carolyn Dann was 266th (22:55).
No one else in the area competed as a complete team.
Chambersburg's Dan Patti finished 162nd (17:58) in the Class AAA boys race, while Southern Fulton's J.C. Munson was 208th (19:08) and Zane Baker was 250th (20:10) in the Class AA boys race.
For Southern Fulton in the Class AA girls race, Alex Zanella was 55th (21:03), Jenna Hollenshead was 196th (22:46), Lacey Beatty was 270th (25:09) and Mariah Hill was 278th (25:56).

Musselman wins region title
WESTON, W.Va. --Â Musselman won the West Virginia Class AAA Region II tournament at Lewis County High School with a 25-12, 25-18, 25-10 sweep of Hampshire in the semis, followed by a 25-19, 25-17, 25-16 defeat of Bridgeport in the finals.
Taylor Allen paced the Applemen (16-2) with 24 kills and 15 digs over both matches, while Emily Funkhouser added 21 kills, 10 digs and five aces and Shayla Bartles had 10 aces and six kills. Taylor Oates added 57 assists, six digs and three aces and Sammy Deter tallied 22 digs on the day.
Bridgeport defeated Hedgesville (11-7) in five games in the other semifinal.

Blast go 4-0 at tourney
The Clear Spring Blast went 4-0 at the FCYSL U-14 Division 1 Tournament to advance to today's championship final against Tri-County.
The Blast beat Ballenger Creek 4-0, FSC Soccer Club 3-0, Tri-State Soccer Club 2-1 and Urbana FSC 3-0.
For the Blast, Jonathan Henesy had four goals and two assists, Bradly Mills had two goals and three assists, Zach Robertson had two goals and Tiago DeSouza, Jordan Davis, Ryan Varron and Quinn Rhodes each had a goal.

Washington County Junior League playoffs begin today
The Washington County Junior Football League playoffs begin today with four games scheduled. The Packers vs. Giants 'B' game starts at 1 p.m., followed by Steelers vs. Browns 'A', Steelers vs. Redskins 'B', and Giants vs. Packers 'A.'
On Monday, the Chargers vs. Bears 'B' game begins at 6 p.m. with the Vikings vs. Titans 'A' game immediately following. The Jets vs. Titans 'B' game will take place Tuesday at 6 p.m. followed by Bears vs. Raiders 'A'.

Boonsboro lacrosse fundraiser
The Boonsboro Athletic Boosters Inc. will host a "Funds For Friends" fundraiser at The Greene Turtle in Hagerstown on Nov. 10 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.Ten percent of that day's sales will be donated to the boosters in an attempt to fund a lacrosse program at the school.
