One killed in W.Va. crash

November 07, 2009

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -- A New York woman died Saturday in a one-vehicle accident on southbound Interstate 81 in southern Berkeley County, according to a West Virginia State Police press release.

Doris S. Rosado, 65, of The Bronx, N.Y., a passenger in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.

The accident happened about 12:20 p.m. between the seven- and eight-mile markers, troopers said.

A 1996 Ford Explorer driven by John Bell, age and address unknown, was towing a 1975 Volkswagen Beetle, troopers said. Bell lost control of the Explorer, which went into the median, troopers said. The Beetle began to slide, causing the Explorer to flip several times through the median, troopers said.

Bell was treated at the scene for possible injuries, troopers said.

Rosado and Bell were cousins and were traveling to Richmond, Va., when the accident occurred, troopers said.

The cause of the accident was under investigation, troopers said.
