Humane Society in need of donations

The Humane Society of Washington County is running low on several items used to care for homeless animals. The HSWC is in need of Pedigree Adult Dog Food, large bath towels and blankets.

Donations can be dropped off in the lobby of the Humane Society, 13011 Maugansville Road, north of Hagerstown, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday; 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays; and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays. All donations are tax deductible.

Community Veterans' Day service

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -The annual community Veterans' Day service will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, at Letterkenny Chapel at Letterkenny Army Depot. Guest speaker will be retired U.S. Army Col. Tony Cerri. Music will be provided by Joan Sachs, and Martin Wenger. Charles Nitterhouse Veterans of Foreign War Post 1599 will present the colors and lead a patriotic ceremony in front of the chapel. The service is open to all. Veterans celebration in Martinsburg, W.Va.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -Martinsburg United Methodist churches will sponsor a celebration of veterans at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 700 New York Ave. Patriotic music will be performed and mini-meditations will be shared.

Those attending are asked to bring an item of nonperishable food to donate to C-CAP/Loaves & Fishes.

Quilting demonstrations at library

SMITHSBURG - Join quilters Sari Kilheffer and Nancy Brown as they quilt from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursdays, Nov. 12, and Nov. 19, at Smithsburg Library.

Adults and children may help them with their quilts. The public is welcome to watch the quilters at work. For more information, call 301-824-7722.
