Kris Kringle Craft Show set for Nov. 21 and 22

The 26th annual Kris Kringle Craft Show will be held Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 21 and 22, at Hagerstown Community College's Athletic, Recreation and Community Center, 11400 Robinwood Drive in Hagerstown.

The show will feature more than 250 handcrafters, more than 100 new vendors, wider aisles, larger booth spaces and more floor space.

Admission costs $1 with proceeds going to Hospice of Washington County Inc.

Hours for the show will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.

Parking will be free. Golf cart shuttle will be available at no cost. Shopping bags will be given away, there will be a free gift-wrapping station and a package holding area will be provided. Door prizes will be given away.

This is a nonprofit show. Donations of nonperishable food items for Christmas baskets for families and/or a new toy for underprivileged children are requested.


All items will be donated to Hagerstown Trinity Lutheran Church for distribution to families.

The organizers are also looking for volunteers, clubs or organizations that would like to volunteer to work at the free gift-wrapping station, the door prize table or the package holding area.

High school students can earn student service learning hours by working at the craft show.

Little League fundraiser

Maugansville Little League is selling gun/cash raffle tickets.

Managers sought

Maugansville Little League is accepting letters of interest for managers for the upcoming season.

St. Mary Catholic School will host a bonanza Saturday at the Elks Lodge on Robinwood Drive.

Tickets cost $25, which admits two people. Tickets include dinner, draft beer, soda and homemade desserts.

First ticket and every 20th ticket wins $25, the 100th and 200th tickets win $135 (celebrating 135 years of St. Mary School) and the last ticket drawn wins $2,500.

Tip jars, raffles, silent auction items and door prizes will be available. The DJ/dance begins after the drawings. The doors open at 5:30 p.m.

Books for Babies

The "Books for Babies" program sponsors a "Reading to Make Cents" contest in which students obtain sponsors to make pledges for every book they read during American Education Week, Nov. 15 to 22.

The effort supplies a double benefit by encouraging reading at the beginning of a baby's life and during later years of formal instruction in the school system.

Companies in the area donate prizes that are awarded to three winners at all participating elementary schools, as well as four countywide grand prize levels.

Each participant also gets an individual prize.

Elementary school students can sign up sponsors from now through Nov. 22.

Christmas bazaar

The Ladies of the Elks and Associates, Hagerstown Lodge 378, will hold a Christmas bazaar Saturday, Nov. 14, from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 11063 Robinwood Drive, door No. 5. There will be a pancake and sausage breakfast from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. Lunch will be served from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. featuring homemade soups, sandwiches, doughnuts, sodas and coffee. A baked goods table will also be available. Many outside vendors will be selling crafts, plants and white elephant items. A raffle drawing will be held at 3 p.m. You need not be present to win. Members and their guests are welcome. All proceeds will benefit local charities.

Card party luncheon

The public is invited to a card party and luncheon Tuesday, Nov. 17, at noon at the Women's Club at 31 S. Prospect St. Any card or board game can be played or just sign up for lunch. Crossroads Garden Club invites the public to the annual Holiday Greens Show on Sunday, Nov. 22, at 2:30 p.m. The presenter will be Tim Valerio of the Village Florist who will demonstrate how to create fall and holiday floral designs. Admission costs $10, which includes refreshments and door prizes. There will also be a raffle and silent auction of filled baskets.
