Economic Development Commission earns award

PELHAM, Ala. -- The Hagerstown-Washington County Economic Development Commission has received one of Expansion Solutions Magazine's "Top Five" Awards of Excellence.

The awards recognize economic development organizations that have shown exceptional progress and potential in the development area by successfully recruiting, retaining and assisting growing businesses, according to the magazine.

The local EDC's recognition came in the Warehouse/Distribution category. Top Five Awards of Excellence also were given in the categories of Automotive, Biotechnologyl High Technology, Logistics, Ports and Web site design.

In addition to the Hagerstown-Washington County EDC, others recognized in the Warehouse/Distribution category included Grand Island Area Economic Development, Grand Island, Neb.; High Point Economic Development Corporation, High Point, N.C.; Pflugerville Community Development Corporation, Pflugerville, Texas; and Sioux Falls Development Foundation, Sioux Falls, S.D.
