Clarence Kidwell "Bud" Brutcher, 86

Clarence Kidwell Brutcher, Sr., 86, of Memphis, passed away on Friday, Oct. 30, 2009.

Born in Savannah, Ga., he was the son of the late Clarence Charles and Anna Kidwell Brutcher.

He attended Wesleyan Hills United Methodist Church.

He was a World War II veteran and received the bronze star for heroism in the Asiatic-Pacific campaign.

He was a 1950 graduate of Clemson University, where he received a degree in pre-medicine.

He worked in the chemical industry for a number of years and was the national sales manager for W.R Grace & Co. He retired from Central Chemical Corp. in Hagerstown, Md., as executive vice president in 1986.

Bud was preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of 60 years, Shirley Crane Brutcher. He was also preceded by one brother, Charles Brutcher, and one sister, Ina Brutcher.


He is survived by one daughter, Carole Brutcher Warrenfeltz of Williamsport, Md.; four sons, C.K. "Butch" Brutcher Jr. of Nurnberg, Germany, Charles William Brutcher of Eads, Tenn., David Neal Brutcher of Memphis, Tenn., and Wesley Crane Brutcher of Hagerstown, Md.; one sister, Ann Hester of Walton, Ind.; two brothers, Frank Brutcher of Logansport, Ind., and Samuel Brutcher of Athens, Ga.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 2 p.m. at Wesleyan Hills United Methodist Church in Memphis.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
