Washington County educators honored

Faculty members from six institutions of higher learning in Washington County were honored Oct. 23 during the second annual Academic Excellence in Higher Education Awards at Fountain Head Country Club.

They were:

Nancy Witmer, Frostburg State University music department and instructor of a master of arts in teaching course at the University System of Maryland-Hagerstown;

Randall Rhodes, USM-H assistant dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Science and faculty member of the master of arts in teaching program at USM-H;

Anita Fetzer, adjunct instructor in the phlebotomy program at Kaplan University;

Jacelyn A. McDonnell, criminal justice faculty for University of Maryland University College;

Ted Guarriello, adjunct instructor of industrial technology at HCC;

Kimberly Van Vulpen, field placement coordinator for Salisbury University;

Judith N. Peison, math and science full-time faculty member at HCC; and

Marilyn Halstead, associate professor in the department of nursing for Towson University.
