W.Va. woman killed in crash

October 30, 2009

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- A Jefferson County woman died Friday night after the vehicle she was driving slid off Flowing Springs Road and struck a tree, Jefferson County Sheriff's Department Sgt. R.S. Sell said.

Jennifer S. Cameron of Shenandoah Junction, W.Va., was pronounced dead at the scene near the Dogwood Manor subdivision, Sell said.

Cameron was traveling south toward Shenandoah Junction when the 2006 Toyota Corolla she was driving slid off the road, struck a large tree and appeared to roll over, Sell said.

Road conditions were dry and visibility was good, Sell said.

Cameron, who was believed to be in her mid-20s, was in the vehicle when emergency responders arrived after the accident was reported at 9:20 p.m., Sell said. The driver's side of the vehicle appeared to strike the tree first after she apparently lost control, Sell said.

Jefferson County Medical Examiner Donald Shirley assisted police at the accident scene, which shut down Flowing Springs Road for about 90 minutes, Sell said.
