Earl William Eissner, 93, of 19800 Tranquility Circle, Hagerstown, Md., died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009, at Washington County Hospital.

Born April 19, 1916, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Harry Franklin and Florence Edith Worthington Eissner.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a retired major in the U.S. Army Reserve.

He was a member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church.

He was a member of the Morris Frock, American Legion Post 42, B.P.O.Elks 378, Friendship Lodge 84 A.F.&A.M. of Hagerstown, the Ali Ghan Masonic Temple of Cumberland, and a former member of the Cumberland Scottish Rite.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Blanche Garnetta Eissner; nieces; and nephews. He was the last member of his immediate family.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Clara R. Martin, and a brother, Charles Edward Eissner.

Funeral services will be held at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., on Saturday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Renee Mackey will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.
