Grand Sunday Brunch to be held Nov. 8



The Washington County Chapter of the American Cancer Society will hold its 20th annual Grand Sunday Brunch Sunday, Nov. 8, from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hager Hall Conference and Event Center, 1201 Dual Highway in Hagerstown.

The theme will be "Look Good Feel Better" with volunteer cosmetologists teaching cancer patients beauty tips to look better and feel good about how they look during chemotherapy and radiation treatments.

As in the past, Lou Scally will be the master of ceremonies.

There will be face painting by Mary Jane Koontz, magicians Hugh McVeagh, Dean Burkitt and Jim Greer will entertain, and a silent auction will run throughout the event.

Raffle tickets with locally donated items will also be available during the event. This year, there will be a separate Redskins/Cowboys game raffle ticket.

Tickets cost $35 for adults and $12 for those ages 4 to 12. For advance purchase, 10 tickets cost $300. Tickets are available at Vasco Inc., 1075 Sherman Ave. in Hagerstown.

Seniors to meet Tuesday for lunch



The Maugansville Senior Friendship Club will meet Tuesday at the Tops Chinese Buffet in North Village Plaza.

A short meeting will follow a Dutch treat lunch at noon. Guest speaker Richard Helfrich will talk about the Hagerstown Fair, which was an interesting time in local history. If anyone has any photos from the fair, they are encouraged to bring them to the meeting.

Trick-or-treat tonight in Maugansville area



Don't forget, the Maugansville area will hold trick-or-treat tonight from 6 to 8. Those homes that are participating are asked to turn on their porch light. Any areas surrounding Maugansville, such as Orchard Hills, can participate as well.

North High Boosters to meet



The next North Hagerstown High School Boosters Club meeting will be Monday, Nov. 9, at 7 p.m. at the school.

A bonanza is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 23, at Williamsport Fire Hall. Tickets cost $40 per couple, which will include a meal, drinks, snacks and dancing to a DJ. There will be new jars, a 50/50 and a chance to win $1,000.
