Man faces drug charges after foot chase



MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -- A police officer chased a man behind a 7-Eleven at Winchester Avenue and King Street Thursday and the man threw two baggies along railroad tracks, according to the Martinsburg Police Department.

Patrolman D.P. North retrieved the bags after the man was apprehended and they contained about 50 grams of crack cocaine, according to a press release.

The man, identified as Durrell Stewart Johnson, 23, was charged with possession with intent to deliver crack cocaine, the release said.

North said he was on patrol on West Burke Street when he noticed Durrell driving a Pontiac with no inspection sticker, the release said.

Durrell parked the car in the 7-Eleven parking lot and fled on foot, the release said.
