MariLynn Rideout Spencer passed away Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009, at Williamsport Nursing Home in Williamsport, Md.
She was born Sept. 5, 1921, in Battle Creek, Mich., and graduated there from business college as a medical stenographer and secretary. She attended Madison College in Tennessee up to her final year, when she married and followed her husband when he was drafted into the military.
She worked most of her life in paramedical fields and medical stenography and in later years for the Review & Herald Publishing Association of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, of which she was a lifelong member.
She was the daughter of the late Mildred Presley Griffin, also of Hagerstown.
She was married to Dr. John R. Spencer and is survived by one son, Sheldon Presley Spencer of Laurel, Md.; two daughters, Sheryl Ann Maize of Murphy, N.C., and Debra Lynn Spencer of Phoenix, Ariz.; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. She was also grandmother of baby Olivia Maize who died after receiving a heart transplant at Loma Linda, Calif., and was the youngest heart recipient at the time.
