WILLIAMSPORT -- Smithsburg senior David Wilson has a "half" decent history at the Washington County Cross Country Championships, to say the least.

"Freshman year, I got eighth. Sophomore year, I got fourth. Junior year, I got second. Senior year, I got first," Wilson said. "Just divide it by two each time. It's sort of funny."

Wilson didn't just win the 32nd annual running of the county meet Thursday on Williamsport's 3-mile course. He dominated, taking the title by more than a minute in a course-record time of 15:34. The previous mark of 15:50 was set by 2009 Williamsport graduate Michael Lilley last year.

North Hagerstown senior Alison Harrell won the girls race in 20:26, and the North girls and Williamsport boys both repeated as county team champions.

Wilson, who set course records at Clear Spring and Smithsburg earlier this season, is undefeated this fall with only two races left -- the Maryland 1A West championships on Nov. 5 back at Williamsport, and the state meet Nov. 14 at Hereford.

He should be more than ready.

"I just broke 1,000 miles since June 1 last Friday, so that's pretty cool," Wilson said. "Now I'm finally backing off the mileage and tapering."

"I haven't really been hyped up at any of the races yet this year," he added. "I guess I'm saving it for states."

Boonsboro junior Evan Moser was the boys runner-up Thursday in 16:36.

"I'm definitely happy to be second," Moser said. "I knew going into the race that it would be almost impossible to get first, but anything can happen."

Williamsport took five of the next seven spots to easily win with 27 points. Boonsboro was a distant second (69).

For the Wildcats, Evan Hardy was third (16:40), Graylon Wright was fourth (17:24), Danny Quinn was fifth (17:39), Cody Bowman was sixth (17:39) and Michael Wyant was ninth (18:08).

"To win on your home course is always special," said Williamsport coach Randy Buchman, who will have a chance to do it again at next week's region meet. "If we run like we did today, we have a good shot at winning."

The race for the girls team title was much closer. North held off Smithsburg 24-39 as the two teams combined to take nine of the top 10 spots and 13 of the first 15.

"We came here to win, we did our job and we're going home happy," said North coach Lindsay Zerance, whose Hubs will be the county's lone representatives at the 2A West championships Nov. 5 at Middletown. "Now it's on to regionals, and we're really excited."

Harrell led the way from start to finish Thursday.

"I felt pretty good," she said. "I was really trying to work on pacing, just using this meet to prepare for the meets ahead. ... The county meet is important, but it's not the meet that gets us to states."

Smithsburg's Lauren Johnson edged North's Alexis Eichelberger for second place by a fraction of a second, as both were clocked at 20:40. The next three runners finished in a span of 2 seconds, as Boonsboro's Sarah Zielinski was fourth (21:23) and North's Amanda Martin (21:24) and Emily Simmons (21:25) were fifth and sixth.

Christine Brugh completed the Hubs' scoring, placing ninth in 22:05.
