Owner of Carla's Deli wants to transfer liquor license

The owner of Carla's Deli in Hagerstown told Washington County liquor officials Wednesday he wants to close the establishment next month and transfer his liquor license to another business.

Paul Garvin, owner of the deli at 23 N. Locust St., said during a hearing before the Board of License Commissioners for Washington County, known as the liquor board, that he would like to retire and close the business by Nov. 19. Garvin asked about the process he would have to follow to transfer his license to Taqueria El Paisa, a Mexican restaurant at 40 E. Washington St.

He was told restaurant officials could apply for the transfer, but a decision wouldn't be made for 30 days.
