Ruth MacAfee Iseminger, 87

FUNKSTOWN - Ruth MacAfee Iseminger, 87, formerly of 23 Frederick Road, Funkstown, Md., died on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009, at Broadmore Assisted Living.

Born Oct. 2, 1922, in Wanamie, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Bridget Splett MacAfee.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Bertrand Lee Iseminger Sr., on Oct. 7, 2004.

She was a graduate of the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital School of Nursing and continued her training at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.

She was a veteran of World War II, stationed in Germany and Italy while serving as a first lieutenant nurse in the U. S. Army.

She was a nurse at Washington County Hospital for many years.

She is survived by one daughter, Ruth Ann Iseminger of Williamsport; and one son, Bertrand L. Iseminger Jr. of Funkstown.

She was preceded in death by four sisters, Irene Skuse, Marie Douglas, Lula Hutnik and Millie Kanyuck.

Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery with her husband.

There will be no viewing. The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of Washington County, P.O. Box 367, Hagerstown MD 21740.
