Fire company to hold food, bake sale



The Sharpsburg Volunteer Fire Department will hold a soup and bake sale Saturday at the fire station on Chapline Street in Sharpsburg from 7:30 a.m. until sold out. It will be eat in or carryout. Ham and bean, chicken corn and vegetable soups will be sold by the bowl or $5 per quart. Country ham and egg, sausage and egg, hot dogs and Mexican sandwiches will be sold. Assorted beverages and baked goods will be available.

Dargan trick-or-treat



Dargan will hold trick-or-treat night Thursday, Oct. 29. from 6 to 8 p.m. for those ages 12 and younger. Residents who wish to participate are asked to turn on their porch lights. Motorists are encouraged to drive slowly.

Bethel Methodist to hold homecoming



Bethel United Methodist Church, Rohrersville, will hold homecoming services Sunday. Lunch will follow the 10:30 a.m. service by Pastor John Schildt. Call Joy Sandy at 301-432-6353 with your number of people attending.

Lions' ham sandwiches



The Sharpsburg Lions country ham sandwiches will be available at St. Paul's Episcopal Church after 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, or delivered Friday, Nov. 6. Call Roger Moore at 240-469-4674 or Wade Moore at 301-790-0632 by Oct. 30 to order sandwiches.

Master Gardeners to offer classes



Applications are being accepted for the Master Gardener classes.

Master Gardeners are volunteer educators who teach people safe, effective gardening techniques through plant clinics, talks, demonstration gardens and more.

Trained by University of Maryland experts, Master Gardeners expand their gardening know-how through 40 hours of classroom training and learn about everything from botany to bugs, pruning to propagation and weeds to wildlife. Training will be held Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. from Feb. 11 to April 8 at the Washington County Agricultural Education Center near Sharpsburg.
