Basket bingo



The Maugansville Goodwill Fire Co. will host a basket bingo Sunday. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and bingo starts at 1 p.m. For more information, call Jeannie at 301-797-6770.

Fire prevention



In the last two weeks, Maugansville firefighters have visited schools in the Maugansville area to spread the Fire Prevention Week message. The firefighters visited about 1,000 children.

Election of officers



The Maugansville Goodwill Fire Co. will conduct its annual election of officers Monday, Nov. 2. Polls will be open from 2 to 3 p.m. and from 6 to 7:15 p.m. All active members are encouraged to vote.

Trick-or-treat



The Maugansville area will hold its trick-or-treat night Friday, Oct. 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. Those homes that are participating, please turn on a porch light. Any areas surrounding Maugansville, such as Orchard Hills, please feel free to participate during this time as well.

Little League



The Maugansville Little League Board of Directors will hold its monthly meeting Thursday, Oct. 29, at 6:30 p.m. in the league boardroom.

The league is accepting letters of interest for managers for the upcoming season. Interested individuals should submit a letter to Maugansville Little League, P.O. Box 266, Maugansville MD 21767. Please include contact information.

Pancake breakfast



A pancake breakfast will be held at the Maugansville Ruritan Saturday from 6:30 to 11 a.m. Breakfast costs $5.50 for adults and $3 for those ages 6 to 12. Those younger than 6 will be admitted free. The menu includes all-you-can-eat pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage gravy, sausage, coffee, tea and juice. Future breakfasts are scheduled for Nov. 21, Jan. 23, Feb. 27 and March 27. All proceeds benefit the many programs the club supports.

Fall Fest



The Women's Club will hold its Fall Fest Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The club is at 31 S. Prospect St.

Baked goods, jewelry and collectibles will be available for purchase.

Apple dumplings will be sold for $2.75 each. Country ham sandwiches will cost $3 apiece.

Vegetable beef, chicken corn, and ham and bean soups will be sold for $2.50 a pint or $5 a quart. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Tickets for a turkey dinner raffle will be sold or can be obtained by calling the club.

Trip to show



The public is invited to join the Women's Club for a bus trip to the Signature Theatre in Arlington, Va., to see the musical "Show Boat" Sunday, Nov. 15. The trip costs $85, which includes transportation and the show. For more information, call 301-739-0870.

Cruise-in set for Saturday



The Meadows Original Frozen Custard of Hagerstown will host its third annual end-of-year cruise-in to Benefit the Humane Society of Washington County Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m.

This annual event takes place at 222 E. Oak Ridge Drive in the South Pointe Shopping Center.

The event will feature classic cars and music. The animal shelter will have adoptable animals on site from 1 to 4 p.m., weather permitting.

Donations will be accepted throughout the day and evening at the drive-through, walk-up windows or eat-in parlor.

Suggested donations include money, dog collars, leashes, scratching posts, portable kennels/crates, as well as Petco and/or PetSmart gift certificates.

All donations will be eligible for a free small cone and entry to win a $5 gift certificate or Meadows T-shirt.
