Isidore Horowitz, 89, passed away Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Dec. 7, 1919, in Manhattan, N.Y., he was the son of the late Samuel and Sadie Horowitz.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He retired after 43 years as a flight mechanic at Fairchild Industries.

He was a member of the AMVETS, Moose Club and Morris Frock American Legion Post 42.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alberta (Wilson) Horowitz.

Isidore is survived by two daughters, Deidre L. Cooper and husband, Floyd, of State Line, Pa., and Terra S. Horowitz-Waldron and husband, John, of Scottsdale, Ariz.; one sister, Betty Heyers of Fort Lauderhill, Fla.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.


In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

A graveside service will be Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at 1 p.m. at Rest Haven Cemetery, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Mark C. Mooney officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Maryland State Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
