History course planned on Puritan founder

Hagerstown Community College's Center for Continuing Education is offering a course titled "Builders and Heretics" on Fridays, from Nov. 6 to 20, at HCC's Valley Mall Center.

Taught by historian and author Roger Swartz, the course will focus on the life of John Winthrop, a principal founder of the Puritan Massachusetts Bay colony in 1630. Cost is $60. For more information or to register, call 301-790-2800, ext. 236.

The course will also focus on suspected Puritan heretics such as Roger Williams, Anne Hutchinson, and the witches of Salem.
