Peggy "Peg" P. Barron, 76, of Hagerstown, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Oct. 17, 2009, at Williamsport Nursing Home in Williamsport.

She was the wife of Donald S. Barron.

Born Oct. 21, 1932, in Berryville, Va., she was the daughter of the late Albert L. McAtee and Matte P. Stump of Charles Town, W.Va.

In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie L. Morison and Dorothy E. Biller of Charles Town W.Va.

She was a loving, caring wife, mother and grandmother.

Peg was very active in garden clubs. She was co-founder of the Heritage Garden Club of Halfway, Md., and served as co-president and president. She served as secretary for the District Federal Garden Club of Maryland. She was also a member of the Artisan Craft Guild.

Peg was the co-founder of the Western Maryland Chapter of the American Parkinson Disease Association and served as co-president with her husband for over 20 years.

In addition to her husband of 59 years, she is also survived by her daughter, Donna K. Gelwicks; son-in-law, Larry R. Gelwicks; grandson, Brenan B. Gelwicks; and granddaughter, Baille. K. Gelwicks.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Mark C. Mooney officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Family and friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Peg's name to the National Parkinson Foundation, 1501 N.W. 9th Ave./Bob Hope Road, Miami, FL 33136-1494.
