McCaffery, Morgan lead Grace past Calvary

John Michael McCaffery and Zack Morgan each had a goal and an assist to lead Grace Academy past Calvary Christian 5-2 on Tuesday in the quarterfinals of the MDCC Tournament.

Caleb Serafini, Nick Montoya and Andy Michael each scored a goal for the Knights (18-1), while Luke Bunting and Cameryn Steward each had an assist.

Brandon Kendall and Gavin Hart each had a goal and an assist for Calvary.

Broadfording 5, Shalom 0

Andy Torres had two goals as Broadfording shut out Shalom Christian in the quarterfinals of the MDCC Tournament.

Michael Torres had a goal and an assist, Cameron Crutchfield and Justin Haldeman each scored and Andrew Wyand and Jordan Whitt each had an assist for the Lions (14-3).

Broadfording will host Faith Christian in the semifinals on Thursday.

Heritage 2, CVCS 1

Mark Taggart scored the game-winner in double overtime to lead Heritage Academy past Cumberland Valley Christian in the quarterfinals of the MDCC Tournament.

Bryan Defelice had a goal, J.R. Dudeck had two assists and Josh Long made 17 saves for the Eagles (8-7-1).

Pano Kalathas scored the goal for CVCS.

Heritage moves on to play Grace Academy in the semifinals on Thursday.

Clear Spring 3, Smithsburg 1

SMITHSBURG -- Dan Maught scored two goals and added an assist to lead Clear Spring to an MVAL Antietam victory.

Matthew Blair added a goal and an assist, while Brandon Kesselring had an assist for the Blazers (8-3-1, 3-2-1), who outshot Smithsburg, 16-4.

Joey Barvir scored and Dan Gillen made nine saves for the Leopards (1-11, 1-4).

Berkeley Springs 8, Petersburg 0

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. -- Zach Wise led Berkeley Springs with four goals and an assist as the Indians cruised past Petersburg in the first round of the Region II Section 2 playoffs.

Dylan Trip had a goal and an assist, Fernando Andrzejeski, Matt Stevens and Josh Kelly each scored a goal, Guidel Guzman recorded two assists and Caleb Murray made two saves for the Indians (8-7-4).

Waynesboro 2, Greencastle 0

WAYNESBORO, Pa. -- David Eigenbrode and Damien Strait each scored for Waynesboro, while Johansson Pelle recorded four saves to earn the shutout.

Seth Sprague made six saves for Greencastle.

JV: Waynesboro, 2-0.

Smithsburg 0, Clear Spring 0

CLEAR SPRING -- Morgan Moser had three saves in goal for Smithsburg (2-7-1), which outshot Clear Spring 21-9 but only managed a scoreless tie after two overtimes.

Tori Albert recorded 12 saves for the Blazers.

Broadfording 3, Calvary 0

Two-time defending champion Broadfording swept Calvary Christian 25-6, 25-11, 25-7 in the quarterfinals of the Mason Dixon Christian Conference Tournament.

Hannah Young had 13 kills, 10 digs and four aces for the Lions (19-0), while Rebecca Adams had 26 assists, seven digs and two aces and Abbie Worsfold had seven kills, four digs and three aces.

Heritage 3, Faith Christian 0

Callie Butts had 25 assists and five aces as Heritage Academy swept Faith Christian 25-9, 25-12, 25-15 in the quarterfinals of the MDCC Tournament.

Kara Stamper had six kills and three blocks, Brianna Dorsey had eight digs and three aces, and Rachel Clarke added five kills and three blocks for the Eagles (14-3).

Shalom 3, New Life 1

MARION, Pa. -- Juliana Mowen had 26 digs, seven kills and four blocks to lead Shalom Christian past New Life Christian 24-26, 25-14, 25-10, 25-14 in the MDCC Tournament quarterfinals.

Tasha Lentz had 25 digs, Karlee Wise had 22 digs, Stacey Thrush had 18 digs and three blocks, Natasha Gibble had 14 assists and Ashlyn Blank added five kills for the Flames.

Smithsburg 3, North Carroll 0

HAMPSTEAD, Md. -- Sara Rishell had 17 kills and Colleen Black added 12 kills to pace Smithsburg to a 25-18, 25-17, 25-17 sweep of North Carroll.

Katie Sprecher had 16 digs and Taylor Belella tallied 33 assists for the Leopards (12-0).

Clear Spring 3, Goretti 0

Lindsey Lacy had 14 kills and seven aces to lead Clear Spring to a 25-14, 25-5, 25-13 sweep of St. Maria Goretti.

Lily Pinkham had 12 kills, Megan Micco had 34 assists and Damara McDonough had 14 service points for the Blazers (9-2).

Courtney Thompson had 11 digs and seven kills, Jean Hogan added 14 assists and Sarah Swope had seven digs and five kills for St. Maria Goretti (3-12).

North Hagerstown 3, Linganore 1

Megan Plume had 35 assists, six kills and 12 digs as North beat Linganore, 23-25, 25-13, 25-12, 25-12.

Anna Wade had 14 kills and 15 digs and Akilah McCall added 12 kills for the Hubs (10-2).

Winters Mill 3, Williamsport 1

WILLIAMSPORT -- Sam Kelly had nine kills for Williamsport in a 27-25, 25-21, 13-25, 25-23 loss to Winters Mill.

Allison Gulnac had five kills and eight blocks, Ariah Giles had five kills and seven blocks, Trisha Leigh had seven kills and Paige Kitchen added 22 assists for the Wildcats (4-9).

JV: Williamsport 2-0.

Greencastle 3, Steel-High 0

STEELTON, Pa. -- Erin Garns had 23 assists and eight aces for Greencastle, which swept Steel-High on the road, 25-7, 25-14, 25-9.

Sammi Rudy had 11 kills and Nakita Gearhart added five aces for the Blue Devils (15-0).
