No one injured in barn fire

October 19, 2009

LITTLE COVE, Pa. -- Firefighters spent nine hours on the scene of a barn fire Monday in Warren Township, Pa., approximately five miles north of the Mason-Dixon Line.

The barn, constructed with heavy timber, was filled with approximately 200 bales of hay, MMP&W Fire Co. Capt. John Rice said.

The cause of the fire is unknown, he said.

Firefighters were dispatched at 12:30 p.m. to Furnace Road. At one point, they needed to use heavy equipment to pull apart the collapsed barn.

"We couldn't get to anything," Rice said.

MMP&W Assistant Chief Dale Carbaugh was in charge at the scene, directing firefighters from approximately 10 departments from Franklin, Fulton and Washington counties.
