Man stabbed in neck in Hagerstown

A man was stabbed in the neck Saturday night in the area of Burhans and Elgin boulevards in Hagerstown's West End, according to the Hagerstown Police Department.

His assailant, who might have been wearing a hooded sweatshirt, was last seen running west onto Lanvale Street, according to a police release.

The victim was walking in the West End with a friend around 10:48 p.m. Saturday when another man approached them and stabbed him, the release states. He suffered a severe stab wound to the neck and was driven by friends to Washington County Hospital, where he was recovering from surgery, the police release states.

Police have not released the victim's identity.

The friend was not harmed, police said.

A cash reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the assailant.
