Bark in the Park rescheduled

The Animal Welfare Society of Jefferson County has canceled its Oct. 17 Bark in the Park due to the weather forecast. The raindate of Sunday, Oct. 18, has been cancelled as well, with an alternate date of noon to 4 Sunday, Oct. 25, at Sam Michael's Park on Job Corps Road, near Harpers Ferry, W.Va. Open auditions for The Best Christmas Pageant Ever

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -Chambersburg Community Theatre (CCT) will hold open auditions for The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, on Sunday, Oct. 18, from 2 to 4 p.m. and Monday, Oct. 19, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at The Capitol Theatre, 159 S. Main St.; please use the Wood Center entrance. Auditions are open to anyone, regardless of previous stage experience. No preparation is necessary. Roles are available for six women and four men, age 20 and older, and 30 to 35 children age 3 to 16.


The play runs Dec. 16 through Dec. 20, including a daytime performance Dec. 18.

Auditions for original Christmas play

Zion Reformed United Church of Christ will host auditions for an original Christmas play, "Fallen Angel," at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18, at the church, 201 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown.

The one-act play is a gritty look at a fallen angel's chance for redemption. The scene is set in Bethlehem, and the cultural context is Hebrew.

Performances will be Wednesday, Dec. 9, Friday, Dec. 11, and Saturday, Dec. 12. Rehearsals will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday afternoons. Roles are for seven men and three women, plus a small chorus.

Auditions will include cold readings from the script, which will be available at the audition. Bring a song you can sing a cappella.
