Washington County Department of Social Services

Karen Christof recently was promoted to assistant director for adult, child and family services at the Washington County Department of Social Services.

Christof had been director of the Washington County Family Center since 1997.

Before joining the department of social services, Christof was director of early learning and education at St. John's Community Services in Washington, D.C., and family services coordinator at the Linwood Children's Center in Ellicott City, Md.

Christof received her master's degree in developmental clinical psychology from Antioch University.

Volvo Powertrain North America

Howard Nexsen has been named Employee of the Month for September at Volvo Powertrain North America.

Nexsen, an employee in the Camshaft Machining Department, was the first employee of Volvo Powertrain North America to finish the first two levels of ToolingU, a new online manufacturing machining training program.

WVU Hospitals-East

INWOOD, W.Va. - Dr. Philomela M. Tabuena recently opened Apple Valley Family Medicine in the Apple Valley Plaza in Inwood.


Tabuena recently completed her residency in family medicine from the West Virginia University Rural Family Medicine Program in Harpers Ferry, W.Va. In that time, she served as a member of the medical staff at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Ranson, W.Va.

Tabuena attended medical school at the University of The East in the Philippines and worked for several years in hospitals throughout the Philippines.

Chambersburg Hospital

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Karla Seville, an infusion services nurse at Chambersburg Hospital, recently earned the Certified Registered Nurse Infusion credential.

Seville, of Waynesboro, Pa., has been employed by Chambersburg Hospital for 10 years.

Dr. Vasant Datta

Dr. Vasant Datta has been recertified as a certified medical director in long-term care by the board of directors of the American Medical Directors Certification Program.

The certified medical director in long-term care program was created to enhance the profession of medical direction throughout the long-term care continuum and to reinforce the leadership role of the medical director in providing quality care.

Orrstown Bank

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Michelle Paulnock recently joined Orrstown Bank as senior vice president of operations.

Paulnock will oversee the bank's operations departments in the North Pointe Business Center in Chambersburg, Pa.

Paulnock has 20 years of experience in operations and technology management.

Paulnock is a graduate of Franklin & Marshall College and Manheim Township High School in Lancaster, Pa. She also earned her general banking diploma through the American Bankers Association.
