MERCERSBURG, Pa. -- Carlos Garcia had two goals to lead Mercersburg Academy to a win over Hill School in the Mid-Atlantic Prep League.

Jake Shorr and Andy Chan each added a goal for the Blue Storm. Matt Timoney, Joe Strider, Bill Flanagan and Joey Roberts each had an assist.

MERCERSBURG, Pa. -- Heather Morris and Annie McLaughlin each had two goals for Hill School in a Mid-Atlantic Prep League win over Mercersburg Academy.

Jane Banta had 10 saves for Mercersburg.


HCC goes 1-4

WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. -- Hagerstown Community College had a rough day at the Wisconsin Dells Tournament, winning just one of five matches.

The Hawks beat McHenry 25-22, 19-25, 23-25, 25-13, 15-11, but lost to Kishwakee (21-25, 25-14, 25-23, 25-23), Des Moines Area Community College (16-25, 25-14, 25-16, 21-25, 15-10), Illinois Central (25-23, 22-25, 25-16, 25-22) and Parkland (25-21, 25-20, 25-9).

Juila Becker had 65 kills, 36 digs, seven blocks and five aces for HCC. Emma Dalton had 20 kills, eight aces and seven blocks, Ashlyn Rebok had 91 assists, 25 digs, 10 kills and 10 aces, Sarah Michael had 75 assists, 19 digs, 17 kills and five aces, Becca Morgan had 66 kills, 39 digs and 15 aces, Hailee Growden had 41 digs and Leah MacSwain had 16 kills and six blocks.

On Thursday, the Hawks beat Catonsville 25-16, 25-9, 25-19 to improve to 9-0 in the Maryland JuCo Conference.

West Virginia State 3, Shepherd 2

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Amanda Luedtke and Cameron Lewis each had 18 kills to lead West Virginia State to a 25-20, 17-25, 25-22, 22-25, 15-11 victory over Shepherd.

Amanda Hall had 21 kills and Kasey Mercier had 14 for the Rams (15-9, 8-2). Lauren Jeschelnik had 49 assists and 15 digs, while Julie Robertson had 19 digs.


Hawks ninth at Gettysburg

GETTYSBURG, Pa. -- The Hagerstown Community College men placed ninth out of 25 teams at the Gettysburg College Invitational.

Jeremiah Wilt led the Hawks on the wet and sloppy 8K course, placing 14th in 27:02. Also for HCC, Corey Centofonti was 39th (27:45), Brandon Mauck was 66th (28:22), Wade Miller was 73rd (28:28) and Nathanial Clark was 137th (29:36).

The Hawks finished 25th out of 28 teams in the women's 6K race. Jamie Wisz was 165th in 28:18 for HCC, while Samantha Valiton was 223rd (30:17), Veronica Wheeler was 228th (30:23), Kimmie Adams was 236th (30:37) and Kayla Ferrario was 266th (33:11).

Two former HCC runners were in the men's race. Ryan Shifler was 86th (28:43) for Salisbury, and Dustin Adams was 96th (28:51) for Shippensburg.

Shank 54th at Rumble

OBERLIN, Ohio -- Taryn Shank, a 2009 North Hagerstown graduate, finished 54th out of 220 runners for Elizabethtown College at the Inter-Regional Rumble. She covered the 6K course in 23:22. Elizabethtown finished 13th out of 25 teams.


Shepherd 3, Seton Hill 1

SHEPHERSTOWN, W.Va. -- Ashley Bryant had two assists to help Shepherd beat Seton Hill.

Bryant assisted on goals by Erin Quinn and Brianna Hines, while Amanda Lundstrom added an unassisted goal for the Rams.

Brasher wins Patriot League honor

North Hagerstown graduate Kelsey Brasher -- now a senior at American University -- was recently named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week and American's Student Athlete of the Week.

Brasher had three goals and an assist in wins over Delaware State and Bucknell.

Girls basketball clinics

The Greencastle Lady Blue Devils Basketball clinics will be held Nov. 7 from 9 a.m. to noon, and Nov. 14 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Greencastle-Antrim High School. The clinics are for girls in grades 4 through 8. Fee is $25 per girl per clinic and must be paid when the application is completed.
