Hancock had an opportunity to tie the score on the first play of the second quarter when Shawn Barnhart returned a punt 76 yards to the Ferndale 3. But a holding penalty nullified the run.
"We failed to execute in all three phases of the game," said Mahaffey. "And when we did do something right, we found a way to shoot ourselves in the foot."
The Panthers gave up 258 rushing yards (including 152 yards on 15 carries for Horvath) and 77 more through the air, while mustering just 62 yards of total offense. They turned the ball over five times.
"Everything just started to click (offensively)," said Yellow Jackets coach Tony Penna, Jr. "We have a lot of younger kids, so we have some work to do. But our line has been working really hard and really attacked the gaps tonight."
Horvath made it 34-0 on a 62-yard run to end the third period, and Eisenhuth ran 37 yards for a score on the final play of the game.
The Yellow Jackets also scored on the game's first series, with Torano scooting around the right side from 15 yards out.
