GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Gettysburg College recognizes students' academic achievement in high school by awarding merit scholarships. The presidential scholarship goes to top-ranking applicants based upon their grade-point average, class rank, and SAT or ACT scores.

The following students received presidential scholarships:

Christina Cochran of Boonsboro, a freshman.

Jennifer Donoghue of Frederick, Md., a freshman.

Melissa Dorrance of Mount Airy, Md., a freshman.

Mallory Gardner of Frederick, a freshman.

Christiana Martin of Frederick, a freshman.

Alexandra McComas of Hagerstown, a freshman.

Colleen McCutcheon of Braddock Heights, Md., a freshman.

WEST HAVEN, Conn. - The following area students graduated from the University of New Haven on Aug. 22:

Christopher M. Gery of Frederick, Md., who received a bachelor of science degree in biotechnology.

Heather A. Connolly of Mt. Airy, Md. who received a bachelor of science degree in forensic science.
