Carly Bowman donates her hair for the second time

October 17, 2009

Caroline "Carly" Bowman, 9, donated 10 inches of her hair to the Locks of Love program.

This is her second 10-inch donation in less than a year and a half.

Her first donation in June 2008 was inspired by the loss of three grandparents to cancer and by the compelling photos on the Locks of Love Web site of children before and after receiving their wigs.

Her haircut was performed at Regis at Valley Mall.

A resident of Fairplay, Caroline is a fourth-grader at Rockland Woods Elementary School.

In her spare time, she figure skates at the Hagerstown Ice and Sports Complex, where she trains for skating competitions and shows.

She also enjoys acting with Hagerstown's Walker Performing Arts and is learning to play the trumpet.

Locks of Love is nonprofit organization that provides wigs for children who have lost their hair due to illness.
