Games postponed to Monday

Four Tri-State area high school football games scheduled for Friday were postponed until Monday because of poor field conditions.

South Hagerstown's game against Walkersville at School Stadium has been pushed back to 7 p.m. Monday, as have the James Buchanan at Steel-High and Waynesboro at Shippensburg games.

Greencastle-Antrim's game at Susquehanna Township will be played Monday at 6.

Bishop McDevitt 47, Chambersburg 7

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- Matt Johnson was 12-for-16 passing for 206 yards and four touchdowns to lead Bishop McDevitt.

Jameel Poteat rushed 20 times for 161 yards and three TDs for the Crusaders (7-0), while Salath Williams led the team with 79 receiving yards and a touchdown. Bishop McDevitt outgained the Trojans (4-3), 475 to 134 in total offense.

ConRoy Smith had 104 rushing yards on 11 carries and scored Chambersburg's only touchdown on a 38-yard run early in the first quarter as the Trojans took a 7-0 lead.

Broadfording 3, Hancock 0

Broadfording Christian Academy swept Hancock 25-11, 25-11, 25-15 to finish the regular season undefeated at 18-0.

Kelsi Clark had four service points and Lyndsay Himes had two kills and two digs for the Panthers (2-10).


PIAA District 3 boys

at Briarwood East, par 72

James Buchanan's Landon Hollenshead shot an 83 in the first round, while Nick Stonesifer shot an 84, Brett Buckwalter shot a 93 and Hank Strickler shot a 92 for Chambersburg and Lucas Franki shot a 97 for Waynesboro.

Hollenshead and Stonesifer advanced to today's second round.

PIAA District 3 girls

at Briarwood West, par 70

Liz Breed shot an 81 for Waynesboro to take the first-round lead.

Chambersburg's Mallory Cortis shot an 82 for Chambersburg, also advancing to today's second round, while Paige Estep shot a 113 for James Buchanan.


Grace 3, Heritage 0

Luke Bunting scored twice for Grace Academy, which wrapped up an undefeated MDCC season with a shutout of Heritage Academy.

Caleb Serafini had a goal, Zack Morgan and Patrick Salvagno each recorded an assist and Kenny Frederickson made five saves for the Knights (17-1, 14-0).

Travis Barthalow made 10 saves for Heritage (7-7-1, 7-6-1).


Shepherd 3, Fairmont State 2

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Kasey Mercier had 15 kills and 18 digs to lead Shepherd University in a 21-25, 25-15, 21-25, 25-19, 15-10 WVIAC victory over Fairmont State (18-11, 5-5).

Lauren Jeschelnik had 51 assists and Julie Robertson had 15 digs for the Rams (15-8, 8-1).
