He retired in 2009 from The Herald-Mail Co., after 31 years of service. He was a 1956 graduate of Hagerstown High School. He was a member of Clear Spring Lions Club, Clear Spring Ambulance Club and served as the secretary in previous years, Clear Spring Volunteer Fire Co. and Hagerstown YMCA. He also was president of the Morganthall family reunion for approximately 15 years, a member of the 25 Year Club of The Herald-Mail Co., and a former member of the Mercersburg (Pa.) Moose Lodge.
He is survived by three stepdaughters, Debra E. Reed, Mazie S. Long and Patti J. Myers, all of Clear Spring; three sisters, Jean Evans, Marlene Willman and Deanna Morgan, all of Hagerstown; two brothers, Leroy Willman of Salisbury, Md., and Terry Willman of Clear Spring; and one stepgrandson, Jason Long.
Services will be Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home Inc., 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring. The Rev. Dr. Larry Rickard and the Rev. Ron Faith will officiate. Burial will be in Little Rose Hill Cemetery, Clear Spring. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 6 to 8 p.m.
