Hagerstown Police are seeking help in identifying a shirtless, masked man who robbed a Dual Highway motel at gunpoint Sunday night, Hagerstown Police Sgt. Paul Kifer said in a news release.
The man walked into the lobby of the Econo Lodge at 1101 Dual Highway at 10:32 p.m., showed a handgun and demanded that the clerk give him money, Kifer said. The clerk gave up an undetermined amount of money and the man left the hotel, he said.
A Maryland State Police K-9 unit conducted a track that led to an area south of the hotel, but no suspect was found, Kifer said.
The man was heavyset, white and about 5 feet 10 inches tall, Kifer said. He was wearing a light-colored hat with a bill and button details on the side, dark-colored athletic shorts and white sneakers, and he had a black cloth -- possibly his shirt -- covering his face, Kifer said. He carried a backpack with multicolors on the front and was armed with a handgun that was wooden and black, Kifer said.
