October 15, 2009

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - The 16th annual Renfrew Pumpkin Festival will be held rain or shine Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Renfrew Park.

Visitors will encounter bluegrass entertainment by the Boro Boogie Pickers, pumpkin carving, games and other activities during the festival, which is a joint fundraiser for Renfrew Institute and Renfrew Museum.

The ever-popular "pumpkin-chuckin" trebuchet will run throughout the day. Other popular activities are the scarecrow-making workshop and hay rides.

A lunch of traditional black bean or vegetable soup, homemade bread, cider and an apple is included in the price of admission, which is $7 for adults, $4 for children ages 4 to 12, and free for children age 3 and younger. Hot dogs, soda and coffee will be sold separately.

A bake sale will offer a variety of homemade goodies. Pumpkins will be available, priced by size.
