Happy birthday, 'Joe'



Saturday marks the 95th birthday for Joseph "Joe" Scott, former teacher and principal at Williamsport High School.

Flu clinic canceled



The flu clinic scheduled for today at Rehoboth United Methodist Church, 30 E. Salisbury St., has been canceled.

Pork and sauerkraut dinner set for Saturday



Zion Lutheran Church, 35 W. Potomac St., will hold a pork and sauerkraut dinner Saturday from 3 to 8 p.m.

Tickets in advance cost $8 and can be obtained by calling 301-223-7260. Tickets at the door cost $9 and $4 for those ages 4 to 8. Those 3 and younger will be admitted free.

Peanut butter cups



The Ladies Auxiliary of Calvary Temple, 147 S. Conococheague St., is now taking orders for peanut butter cups. The auxiliary will have chocolate, white chocolate and peanut butter-covered peanut butter cups. The price is 50 cents each.

Call LaRue Ardinger at 301-582-1309 or Krista Pereschuk at 301-223-7921 to place an order. Orders can be picked up at the church on Monday and Tuesday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m. through Nov. 3, or on Saturday, Nov. 7.

The last date to place orders is Oct. 27.

Wrestling registration



Registration for the Williamsport Wrestling Club will be from Tuesday, Oct. 20 to Thursday, Oct. 22, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Williamsport High School gymnasium hallway area. Registration is for those ages 5 to 14. A copy of the child's birth certificate is required.

Potomac Garden Club



On Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church, beginning at 12:30 p.m., the Potomac Garden Club will hold its monthly business meeting, followed by a workshop for members.

Marion James will lead the workshop to make "Trees of a Different Feather." The primitive decorations can be used yearround, but are especially decorative at Christmas.

Comedy show fundraiser to be held



Williamsport Volunteer Fire & EMS will hold a comedy show at the Williamsport Fire Hall on Saturday, Oct. 24. Doors open at 5 p.m.; dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m., followed by the comedy show.

Ticket includes dinner, comedy show and a dance with disc jockey. A cash bar will be available. Tickets cost $45 a couple in advance; $50 at the door.

Marching units sought



Williamsport High School will kick off its homecoming celebration with the annual homecoming parade. Interested marching units can reserve a spot by contacting Robert Stike at 301-766-8434.

The parade will be Saturday, Oct. 24, and will start at Springfield Middle School at 11 a.m.

Apple dumpling, pie, and soup sale



St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, 1020 Maryland Ave. in Hagerstown, will hold its annual apple dumpling sale Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. A variety of homemade pies and soups will also be available for sale.

Not your typical bus trip



Take a luxury motor coach to three farms: dairy, beef and goat. Have hands-on experiences as you discover the inner workings of each operation. Then enjoy a five-course gourmet meal featuring many products from these farms. Prizes will be awarded throughout the day.

The event is Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and begins and ends at the Washington County Agricultural Education Center, 7313 Sharpsburg Pike. Cost is $40 per person, $75 per couple, $25 for students 16 and under, and $10 for children 10 and younger.

Space is limited and advance registration is required by calling 301-791-1504, ext. 21. Deadline for registration is Thursday at noon.
