Baltimore Beer Week continues until Sunday

BALTIMORE - Go on, have another glass, hon.

Sample beers both locally and nationally at Baltimore Beer Week, which continues through Sunday, Oct. 18, at various locations throughout Baltimore.

What started out as an idea for a beer club has grown into an annual Charm City celebration of beers and ales. The event began Oct. 8 and features more than 350 events over the 10-day "week."

Highlights include a scavenger hunt by Frederick, Md.'s Flying Dog Brewery from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, at Canton Square. Cost is free.


Staples Octoberfest Festival will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, at Staples Corner Liquors, 1334 Defense Highway A, Gambrills, Md. Event features tastings of local and national brews.

The Society of Preservation of Beers hosts the Chesapeake Real Ale Festival from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, during which 30 cask-conditioned ales will be tapped. The event is at Pratt Street Ale House, 206 W. Pratt St.

Pratt Street Ale House also will teach visitors how to brew their own beer starting at 10 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 18. Cost is pay as you go.
