Courtyard project to be completed at Foundaindale

October 13, 2009

The Fountaindale School for the Arts and Academic Excellence PTA and the Washington County Board of Education are moving forward on the redevelopment of the school's courtyard. The budget for the project - which will feature a stage and learning centers, as well as be compliant with the American Disabilities Act - is more than $72,000.

Thanks to generous donations of time, materials and money to date, the amount the Fountaindale PTA is responsible for raising is a little more than half that amount, or $37,500, according to information provided by Steven O'Farrell, a parent volunteer who is spearheading the project.

Construction on the 10,000-square-foot area will not begin until the funds have been raised, O'Farrell said. The goal is for the project to be completed next summer.

For detailed drawings, itemized budget and other information about the project, go to www.fountaindalepta.org.

Tax-deductible donations can be dropped off at the school office or mailed to Fountaindale PTA, 901 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742. Please indicate "Courtyard" on the memo line.
