Totem Pole announces lineup for 60th season

October 13, 2009

FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. -- Totem Pole Playhouse will celebrate 60 years of live professional theatre in 2010.

The season kicks off with the musical "Sisters of Swing: The Story of the Andrews Sisters." This regional theatre hit tells the tale of the famous sisters who regaled troops with their swinging tight harmonies during World War II.

The second offering is Neil Simon's "Forty Five Seconds From Broadway," a valentine to the Great White Way, the people in theatre, and also to people who love theatre.

The Playhouse will present "The Complete History of America (Abridged)" in early July. This vaudevillian comedy features Ray Ficca.

Playwright Keith Bridges's new comedy, "The Coward and the Glory, is about a man who travels back in time to Chambersburg, Pa., in July 1864, perhaps altering history irrevocably.

"Unnecessary Farce" is the fifth entry in the line-up, a fast-paced story of mistaken identities, romance, and plain silliness as two cops stake out a possibly corrupt mayor.

"Ruthless! The Musical" features the machinations of one pint-sized, third-grade diva who wants to be a star at any cost.
