Mary E. Wiles, 82

FREDERICK, Md. - Mrs. Mary E. Wiles, age 82, a longtime resident of Frederick, passed away Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, at her daughter's residence.

She was the loving wife for 64 years to the late Glenn W. Wiles, who passed away March 6, 2001.

Born March 4, 1927, in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late Guy V. and Esther Florience (Kenna) Burkett.

Mrs. Wiles was a member of Frederick Church of the Brethren.

She was devoted to her family and liked spending time with her three daughters. Her family benefited many times from her talented cooking. She loved working in her garden and would often can the foods she grew, and always enjoyed the flowers she had.

She is survived by three daughters, Barbara E. Joy and husband, Michael, of Myersville, Virginia F. Clark and husband, James Avery III of Frederick, and Sharon M. Droneburg and husband, Bruce, of Sharpsburg. She was the grandmother of Stephanie L. Joy, James "Jimmy" Avery Clark IV, Michelle E. Golden and husband, Doug, and Mathew W. Droneburg; and the great-grandmother of Madeline E. Golden. She is additionally survived by many nieces and nephews, and will be greatly missed by her dog, Kiki.

Mrs. Wiles was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Ashley E. Joy, who passed away June 7, 1986.

Friends will be received Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Keeney & Basford P.A. Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick, where services will be held in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009, at 11 a.m. Officiating clergy will be the Rev. Sandi Evans Rodgers of Frederick Church of the Brethren and the Rev. Mark A. Wakefield of Christ Reformed United Church of Christ, Middletown. The interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

Serving as pallbearers will be Mathew Droneburg, Bruce Droneburg, Doug Golden, Jimmy Clark, Mike Joy and Bryon Nesbit.
