WILLIAMSPORT - Chester Andrew Armstrong, 79, of 124 S. Vermont St. in Williamsport, Md., died Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, at his home.

Chester was born Sept. 28, 1930, in Mercersburg, Pa., the son of the late Chester Arthur and Mary Magdalene Kaetzel Armstrong.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Harper Armstrong, in 2005.

He was a truck driver in the construction business for more than 30 years.

He was of the Protestant faith.

Chester is survived by two daughters, Faye Angela Ardinger of Boonsboro and Barbara J. Kelley of Williamsport; three sons, Chester E. Armstrong, Paul A. Armstrong and Jack E. Armstrong, all of Williamsport; one sister, Pearl Sanders; four brothers, Henry C. Armstrong, Donald J. Armstrong, Roy N. Armstrong and Fred C. Armstrong; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.


Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Robert E. Armstrong; two sisters, Patricia Armstrong and Gladys Carbaugh; and five brothers, Robert Armstrong, Melvin Armstrong, Paul Armstrong, Daniel Armstrong and Leroy Armstrong.

Graveside services will be Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009, at 11 a.m. in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport, with Pastor Larry Aikens officiating.

The family will receive friends Monday, Oct. 12, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, Williamsport. The funeral home will open Monday at 1 p.m.
