Jerry Moore Paxson, 82, of Hagerstown, passed away Friday, Oct. 9, 2009, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Jan. 31, 1927, in Purcellville, Va., he was the son of the late William Carroll and Nell (Humphrey) Paxson.
He was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church in Hagerstown.
He attended Duquesne University and Virginia Polytechnic Institute, where he was in the Army Specialized Training Program. He went on to serve in the U.S. Army Air Force.
He retired after more than 25 years at Mack Trucks, and previously had worked at Fairchild Industries, both in Hagerstown.
Jerry was a lifetime member of the Potomac Fish and Game Club in Williamsport; a member of Morris Frock American Legion Post 42 in Hagerstown; and a former member of the Auto Racing Club of Hagerstown. He was an avid fan of stock car racing.
