Pheasants Forever adds more than 50 to its rolls

October 10, 2009

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The Cumberland Valley chapter of Pheasants Forever added more than 50 new members at its membership banquet and fundraiser on Sept. 13 at Black's Woods in Mercersburg, Pa.

The event included a raffle and silent auction, along with dinner catered by Flannery's Tavern on the Square in Mercersburg.

Many guests also bought a chance for the "Champagne on Ice" diamond. The organization sold 40 tickets for a chance to win a .25-carat loose diamond worth more than $500 and enjoyed a glass of champagne while they waited to hear the winning number. Brian Rider was the lucky winner of the diamond, which was donated by Snider's Jewelers of Mercersburg.

More than 40 guests received a door prize. Door prizes were donated by Fast Ink of Mercersburg, Gander Mountain, Cumberland Valley Pheasants Forever and In N Out Beverage of Chambersburg. Door prize winners were able to choose from a selection of items from the donors.

"Thank you to all of the new members for becoming part of a great organization," said Mike Baehr, chapter president. "Also, we would like to extend our gratitude to all of our events sponsors and donors. Without all of you, we would not be able to work on beneficial habitat projects. Unlike many national organizations, we control 100 percent of the funds we raise, so all of it goes toward improving habitat in our region."
