Diamondback Assault bicycle found near Pineville Road

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. -- A green Diamondback Assault bicycle was found Friday afternoon near 8570 Pineville Road in Southampton Township in Franklin County, Pa., Pennsylvania State Police said in a news release.

The owner may claim the bicycle at the Chambersburg State Police barrack, police said.

Motorcyclist hurt in crash

IJAMSVILLE, Md. -- A motorcyclist was flown to Baltimore Shock Trauma with serious injuries Friday afternoon after he ran off of the road and struck a tree off Md. 80 in Frederick County, Maryland State Police said in a news release.

The crash happened at about 3:26 p.m. west of Prices Distillery Road near Ijamsville, police said. The driver was headed east on Md. 80 when he ran off the road, police said.

Police were withholding the driver's name Friday night while they tracked down the driver's next of kin. The driver was listed in critical condition, police said.


Plane fire call is a false alarm

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -- Berkeley County rescue agencies were dispatched Friday night for a report of a cargo plane on fire at the 167th Airlift Wing of the West Virginia Air National Guard, but the report turned out to be a false alarm.

The situation was reported at about 7:30 p.m. Friday at the base at 222 Sabre Jet Boulevard in Martinsburg.

There was no fire, said Melissa Shade, public affairs officer for the 167th.

She said an indicator light showed hot smoke coming off the aircraft's brake.
