HCC technical center plans seminar on patents

The Technical Innovation Center at Hagerstown Community College will offer a three-night seminar entitled "Patenting Made Easy: Protecting Your Ideas and Your Wealth," on Oct. 27, Nov. 3, and Nov. 10, in TIC room 208.

The seminar will be led by Michael Smith of the intellectual property group of Steptoe and Johnson. It will focus on a variety of topics related to protecting and commercializing intellectual property and ideas, including patent law, trademark law, copyright law and e-commerce.

Smith is a registered patent attorney and represents clients in matters pertaining to patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret and unfair competition law. He is co-leader of the firm's Intellectual Property Team.

Cost is $130 for all three sessions, which includes materials and registration fees. All sessions begin at 6 p.m.
